Getting Ready for Anything and Everything Apple

Hey Yeah!!
It's that time of year again; Stuart Virginia's annual
Apple Dumpling Festival!
October 19, 2013

I'm think I should conjure up some apple goodness but to get myself in the right apple state of mind I thought I'd revisit last years festival and gather some ideas.
Since I was taking a stroll down memory lane I thought you might want to stroll it with me.

What a way to enjoy an autumn day? This is just one of a few festivals that Stuart puts on but it definitely is a favorite. Nothing screams the turning leaves and the brisk air like the Apple Dumpling Festival. As you can see folks turned out from all over. Definitely a stopping point for many traveler. This little town is at the foot of the Blue Ridge Parkway and makes a wonderful place to stop on your next leaf watching adventure. Peppermint Sugar Scrub~DIY

Ingredients:
sugar(white or brown)
unscented oil such as grapeseed
peppermint essential oil

Directions:
  • I started by placing about a cup of white sugar in a small mixing bowl.
  • Begin pouring oil(about 1/4 cup) into sugar while stirring.
  • Continue stirring and adding oil until you have the consistency of sticky sand            (sandcastle quality)
  • Add 2 or 3 drops of peppermint oil and mix/
  • Pour into a container with a large opening such as a large mouth jar

 That is it!
Tie a ribbon around your jar to make super easy gift to yourself or someone ya' love.

Whipped Coconut & Lavender Moisturizer

For about three month, I've been using a natural moisturizer.
I found the recipe for Whipped Coconut Moisturize while scrolling through Pinterest.
The article explained all the benefits of coconut and with a oh-so simple recipe I was convinced to give it a try.
My method is quite simple coconut oil whipped with a mixer. The first few times I made this I just used some vanilla extract I know that must sound crazy but I didn't have essential oils on hand. The result wasn't bad and I could feel and see the difference in my skin almost immediately but I missed the fragrance. I had become spoiled to those store bought aroma's.

Once receiving the doTerra Lavender Essential Oils, I can't got back only a drop or two have soothed my fragrant wants. I wish there was a way to convey the purity in the smell and it totally added a refreshing to the cream and made my skin really feel revived.

I tell you it was so good that Roscoe, our dog, ate my first  batch with the lavender, completely!
I guess you can't blame a dog for following his nose.

I hope you'll give this moisturizer a try.
As always...thanks for stopping by.
