Good Monday Morning

John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (words of Jesus)

Genesis 1:31
...God saw every thing that he made, behold it was very good.

I can't imagine a much nicer way to spend a day away than good ole front porch pickin'
David Holt is a true teacher and historian. He as made it his mission to learn, share, and teach the Appalachian ways and especially the music. The first time I ever heard him was in grade school.
Every year he would come and perform for our school. For those who haven't heard of him or
Etta Baker you might be in for a little treat.

Isn't Etta a true flower!
I'll have to throw a little Doc Watson in since the Merlefest is this weekend.

This has been my version of Monday Music Moves Me.
Today is earth day and in honor of the day we were to pick songs about
the world, planet, people or cultures.
Today and Everyday...
Let us be good stewards of
the world we've been blessed with.
Thanks so much for the visit!

    1. I think that's what I find so enjoyable too. All the different aspects that folks bring. It sort of let's you know how much people are the same by celebrating the differences.

  9. I love the incorporation of indian worship music and banjo picking bluegrass from the Appalachians. You're a woman who speaks to my heart being that I'm I have a little Cherokee coursing through my veins and a true mountain girl. My daddy use to pick the banjo a bit when I was young. I didn't appreciated it then, as I thought it was too country sounding, but I have a deep appreciation for bluegrass music today. It's more than Appalachian style music, but sounds which traveled from the shores of Ireland to this new world. Thanks for joining 4M!

    1. Your words are so sweet. It is hard to explain Appalachian music, style, and culture to anyone who wasn't lived it but there is a definite culture. It is truly where the blending of many cultures(Native American, Irish, Scottish,German,African, etc.)come together. It is the music of those folks souls. Now it has surely had some changes but yet it remains a lot the same. I'm told that my family has some Cherokee heritage too. I guess it's shame on me for never exploring that culture.

      Wishing you a wonderful day!
