New Life for an Old Wreath

Welcome Spring!
I think this has been a long Winter for many folks and the first day of Spring, March Wind, and the bright sunshine makes us all feel renewed and looking for new life.
It has initiated some Spring cleaning in myself and a want to breath some new life in some of the decor in my house.

I'm on an understated mission to redo our front room; I also have hopes of revealing the over all changes I want to accomplish but I guess I'm sharing these in little bits and pieces since that's how the transformation will take place.

This wreath has hung on the wall in our living room for quite a long time. It has become dried, cracked and well on it's way to falling apart. I have had it on my mind to just toss it out but you all know how that disturbs be so.
You know the whole toss it out just goes against my grain.
I don't think I've fell into the hoarder bracket but it is possibly a slippery slope.

With this almost forgot can of
Rust-oleum Lacquer
from out of the basement
I'm going to clean the wreath off,
Give it a good solid coat,
and
find it a new home.

The spray version is such a good choice since the wreath is so dry and brittle that it might not hold
up to a paint brush.

This area in the front room is odd. I can't honestly tell you why it was put here. It is a pain to clean and sound travel right into the room on the other side.
I had ideas putting  cork board over it to create message center and I also thought of putting picture over it. With old homes you either undo or cover up the things that you don't like or you except the quirks, embrace them and love them for being yours.

I suppose I'm embracing this quirk.
Placing a revamped wreath hung by a piece of brown ribbon and sort of dressing it up.

I hope you've found something to renew today;
if it is only renewing your spirit by soaking in the sun.

Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit
and
most of all..
BE BLESSED!

19 Days

I'm counting it down.
Are you?
For me, it's a little here and a little there. I enjoy the building in to the decorations and I like to see everyone's expressions as they come home from school or work.
It's makes every day a little more special for me.
Today, I've put together a little winter arrangement made from
 an old pickle jar, a bed spring,  and a old Pepsi bottle.

Who out there remembers
 when PEPSI came in a bottle like this?

Now that will tell your age....

I wanted a wooden tray to display my arrangement in
but
with Christmas just around the corner
I'm not thinking to spend money on
that right now
so here goes..
Strawberry flat & some spray paint,
I hope this comes out like I'm hoping.

Do you need some snow?
A bar of Ivory Soap & a grater
You've got it!
I think I like it. I also think it needs some more greenery.
That tends to be my fix for a lot of things.

You know I needed more wreathes.
One for the mirror

One above the kitchen counter.
It doesn't show as well in the picture
but
I've used more
chicken wire & chippy bulbs.

That's it for today.
I'm ready for another cup of coffee.
Thanks for stopping by.
BE BLESSED!

21 days

More wreathes!
I need more... I need more!

I've sorta' put a different twist to an
old idea.
The panels on my little cabinet can be removed
so
I slid them out and covered with some
stenciled aluminum foil.
I tried going through some paper I already had but nothing suited me so
try this..try that..
I just used a very light hand and spray painted the aluminum foil.
I slid my spider plants underneath the cabinet.
All my plants from the porch were moved to the front room where we put our big tree up at;
I've been racking my brain where I was going with them all.
Here's a start.

More ground cedar along with a few other Christmasy stuff.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There wasn't too much to this one.
Old Chicken Wire rolled into a Christmas Tree shape.
More spray paint.
A simple bow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I like to pull this little Vintage Box/Purse at
Christmas.
I picked this up at my favorite place to shop
Larry's Variety.

When we opened it up at the register
it contained  some
 old ornaments;
Larry said," Awh..just take 'em."

So far, I've never taken them out; I just open the box at Christmas time.

I thank you so much if you've stopped by for a visit.
Merry Christmas!

22 days

Oh my..my Christmas Countdown is getting confusing.
Yesterday, I started my countdown at 23 days,
just now I heard the announcer on the radio say,
"It's 22 days until Christmas.
I  have gone to the calendar and counted.

Note..I was a blonde child.

Well... getting my Christmas on.....
1. I've been getting my funky junk style on the move.
one old chippy board
+
one old window sheer
+
Yes..an old wheel
+

Add some greenery ,
old chipped ornaments
and
candles

Voila!!

2. Make a couple of wreathes from ground cedar.

The above link will take you to an old post about finding
ground cedar & making wreathes.

3. I went through the old junk drawer to find some old canning rings and lids.

I had some that I was looking for the rusty ones I had painted.

I poured some  liguid potpourri into a small glass candle holder,
wrapped some cedar around those
and
added a small pine cone to carry the fragrance.

I snugged those all around the house.

4. I found an old broke lantern behind the building;
 You know it..just keep adding...add a little more.

Putting some red berries
a pine cone.

5. Last but not least, I snugged  primitive Santa on the steps.

That's it!
I'm done for this day.
Where's my cup of coffee!

BE BLESSED!
