The Old Singer Pedal Sewing Machine and Some Other Retro Goodies

Hey Ya'll!
I hope everyone's weekend is shaping up nicely.

I thought I'd throw a quick post out on this beautiful Saturday evening.
I 'll be heading on to the work place in a little while but I thought I'd share some of my vintage loves
that's become part of my home lately.

My Singer Pedal Sewing Machine is my new most favorite!
Like so much I won't to look at it and run my hand down it's worn grain.

I have a special love for them because I watched my Grandma Hylton sew on hers so often. All her quilt's were pieced on one so very similar.
Grandma's is still remains in the home it that it called home but now I have finally found one of my own.

I've found them before but opportunity didn't meet many before but all the stars aligned this time and I assume it was all meant to be.

Here it is as we unloaded it off the Ole Man's truck.
I came across it at a local sale that's put on in the community during Labor Day weekend.

It's was quite a find for me.

The cabinet is in a little better shape than Grandma's and the gold labeling is all in tact but much more worn than.
It's found it's home in the front room along with Priscilla, my dressform.

This little straight back chair isn't mine but I couldn't resist sharing what Mama had been up to.
The chairs were Grandma Hylton's as well but the seats had completely seen there better days
so..
Mama put her hand too them with these new jute seats.
I think they are adorable!

Here's my ugly little lamp I picked up.

I couldn't resist because of the map shade.
LOL..the rest of it was ugly though.

This isn't much of a picture but here the lamp sets
beside the wing back chair
after a shot of the cheapest flat black spray paint
that can be purchased.

Well..think..think..think..I can't remember anything else vintage-y
to share at the moment.
I thank you for stopping by.

Be Blessed!

21 days

More wreathes!
I need more... I need more!

I've sorta' put a different twist to an
old idea.
The panels on my little cabinet can be removed
so
I slid them out and covered with some
stenciled aluminum foil.
I tried going through some paper I already had but nothing suited me so
try this..try that..
I just used a very light hand and spray painted the aluminum foil.
I slid my spider plants underneath the cabinet.
All my plants from the porch were moved to the front room where we put our big tree up at;
I've been racking my brain where I was going with them all.
Here's a start.

More ground cedar along with a few other Christmasy stuff.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There wasn't too much to this one.
Old Chicken Wire rolled into a Christmas Tree shape.
More spray paint.
A simple bow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I like to pull this little Vintage Box/Purse at
Christmas.
I picked this up at my favorite place to shop
Larry's Variety.

When we opened it up at the register
it contained  some
 old ornaments;
Larry said," Awh..just take 'em."

So far, I've never taken them out; I just open the box at Christmas time.

I thank you so much if you've stopped by for a visit.
Merry Christmas!

Antique Fair in Mayodan

Saturday adventures brought me to Farris Park in beautiful Mayodan, North Carolina. The Festival was exclusively antiques. I had set myself a very meager limit for spending so mostly I was looking. Unless of course I saw that item I could not refuse.

There where so many wonderful items. Quilts, kitchenware, toys, trunks, and tobacco tins decorated the day.

So many great items. I could imagine this one in my kitchen.
nice mixing bowls
That's a lot of lard
There was a lot of really special stuff under the tent but one of the vendor
asked me not to take pictures in the tent. I thought that was a shame. After
all isn't a picture worth a thousand words.

Some friends for Jud
We had fun browsing and Sis bought a maddock handle but the day's young.
We're off to Autumn Creek Vineyard.
Come on you'll love it.

How I Spent September 3

Hey! I am so glad you decided to drop in for a visit. I have some pictures to share with you of our visit to Larry's Variety Shop and the SUM(Stuart United Methodist) Labor Day Sale. I had lots of fun looking at all the good old stuff folks had brought out to sale. I'm a lover of the rusty and crusty items and baskets; there where plenty of both to enjoy. It is also interesting to see all the different license tags on the cars that travel through Patrick County on this holiday. Many travelers had been to Hillsville, Virginia for their annual Labor Day Sale. Maybe a Labor Day in the future I'll get up their for a visit. You would surely be amazed the way that little town transforms itself into a tag sale. The enthusiasm filters down to our region and turn any road leading to them into a pickers paradise.

We were stopping on the last, rainy day.
I'm so glad there were still vendors set-up.

Oh kids, I hope you didn't wear your good shoes!
It's going to be muddy.
This is just one glass case. This lady had six
tables full of vintage jewelry.
Here's a little something for Alisha,
my Dr. Pepper girl.

I could see these in my flower bed.
Old Scale
Love this color!
Oh my goodness....baskets, baskets, baskets.

Larry's Variety

Larry calls this the porch.
He's said it's barely fit for the yard sale but
I've found some of the best things out here.

I think Jack's found something he likes.

Funny...

Jack asked if this was a washing machine.

Some items under glass.
A little something for the car fan.

I just showed you a small bit of what's here. If you liked this, there is so much more I have to show you. If you like tag sales. vintage treasures, and antiques then you've only began to see what Patrick County and the surrounding areas have to offer.
                                                     Have a blessed day!
