Country Christmas 2016

Hey ya'll!
I wanted to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season;
one filled with family, friends, and plenty of home joys.
I hope your wreathes are hung.
It could be you're like me and have a "wreath addiction."
Jack made this one. He makes me happy when he wishes and asked to go to the woods with me. We just make them simple. Those are the ones I seem to prefer.
I'm keeping a a little Pioneer Woman love going with this beautiful Christmas tablecloth.
I'm never quite through until Christmas. I'll see some spot, I think needs one then I slip down in the woods to make them. I may be done at this point seeing as it's looking like quite the rainy day.
The Ole Man got me excited when he left out for work. He popped his head back in to tell me it was spitting snow.
It was!
But it quickly turned to rain.
 I'm proud of this little plant here. The Ole Man gets me a poinsettia every year. Some years, they are more resilient than others. This one survived the the winter and the summer. When Autumn set in the leaves started turning the brilliant red. It's not full blown red but it's quite beautiful. I let a cold snap freeze out a little portion. Oops!
I added the rhododendron and a little this and that to disguise the zapped part.
  Here's ole St. Nick peeping out from one from this year. It's very red.

We put the fish in a big old pickle jar. We thought they needed some Christmas, too.

I couldn't help but make another country apron for the season.
I think this has lead me to the end of my post.
 It's Christmas Eve!
Jack & I have cookies to bake.

Merry Christmas!
Be Blessed!

Christmas Wreaths 2015

I've been trying to get my holiday decorations up. I've said in the past, I don't flip the switch into the next holiday. I'm more of a transitional decorator.
I make my wreaths out of running cedar that I find in the woods.

I think the best decor for anyone is looking to what is relevant to your area. It makes it personal and yours.
I hope you all are doing the little things that make this time special.

Thank you for taking a look at what's been going on around here.
Be Blessed!

6 days

Oh My Word!! We're down to 6 more days.
Isn't it wonderful when real life takes hold and there no time to put together a post.

We actually put our Christmas Tree up last Friday but we've already started making our Christmas rounds, so..this is the first chance I've had to sit down and share my pictures and a few words.

I would also like to add, I was quite amazed when I downloaded my picture and it was twinkling.
I bet I just got a many a' eyeroll...
I didn't know it would do that...

Only two stocking hung this year..
that made me a little sad.

We don't have a mantel so this has always been the designated stocking spot.
Most years the stocking are from the floor to the ceiling.
So goes when everyone grows up...

We went for a tree that would be a little better sized for the room.
We have been notorious for choosing a tree extremely to large for the room.

I had the lights on for them and they were totally ready to get the decorating on.
First, the balls then the special ornaments.
I had to giggle; if you saw one red ornament, you saw another, same with the green and so on.

Some of the special ones

The cross was made for me some time back.
We had used it up until a few years ago, when we had a antiqued star that we used
but we've went back to our cross the past couple of years.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings to get some snow for Christmas.
It seems a little funny the way that sun is shining in on them
but it really was quite a cold day.
 I always enjoy finding a special place for my little ornament to hang.
A friend from work made it for me.
Things like that tend to make me sentimental.

However you like to decorate do it to satisfy yourself and you family.
By all means,
Be Blessed!

15 days

We've had a break in the weather...at least for today..not tomorrow.
So..
Outside I go!
Front Door

More green..when you don't know what else to do..add  more green.
Some of my decor can get a little rambling.

Awh..my first tree I've put up to far.
Sorta' Charlie Brown with some paper stars.
Jack's Candy Canes
He loves these things!

Back Door

If you look closely, you'll see that all my decorations are not real.
My way is to mix it up.
I don't usually go to far out, I keep it simply
&
Keep it Country.

I thank you for coming by for a visit.
Merry Christmas!
BE BLESSED!

19 Days

I'm counting it down.
Are you?
For me, it's a little here and a little there. I enjoy the building in to the decorations and I like to see everyone's expressions as they come home from school or work.
It's makes every day a little more special for me.
Today, I've put together a little winter arrangement made from
 an old pickle jar, a bed spring,  and a old Pepsi bottle.

Who out there remembers
 when PEPSI came in a bottle like this?

Now that will tell your age....

I wanted a wooden tray to display my arrangement in
but
with Christmas just around the corner
I'm not thinking to spend money on
that right now
so here goes..
Strawberry flat & some spray paint,
I hope this comes out like I'm hoping.

Do you need some snow?
A bar of Ivory Soap & a grater
You've got it!
I think I like it. I also think it needs some more greenery.
That tends to be my fix for a lot of things.

You know I needed more wreathes.
One for the mirror

One above the kitchen counter.
It doesn't show as well in the picture
but
I've used more
chicken wire & chippy bulbs.

That's it for today.
I'm ready for another cup of coffee.
Thanks for stopping by.
BE BLESSED!

21 days

More wreathes!
I need more... I need more!

I've sorta' put a different twist to an
old idea.
The panels on my little cabinet can be removed
so
I slid them out and covered with some
stenciled aluminum foil.
I tried going through some paper I already had but nothing suited me so
try this..try that..
I just used a very light hand and spray painted the aluminum foil.
I slid my spider plants underneath the cabinet.
All my plants from the porch were moved to the front room where we put our big tree up at;
I've been racking my brain where I was going with them all.
Here's a start.

More ground cedar along with a few other Christmasy stuff.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There wasn't too much to this one.
Old Chicken Wire rolled into a Christmas Tree shape.
More spray paint.
A simple bow.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I like to pull this little Vintage Box/Purse at
Christmas.
I picked this up at my favorite place to shop
Larry's Variety.

When we opened it up at the register
it contained  some
 old ornaments;
Larry said," Awh..just take 'em."

So far, I've never taken them out; I just open the box at Christmas time.

I thank you so much if you've stopped by for a visit.
Merry Christmas!
